No registration process for digital money transfer project – FBC News

Save the Children Fiji says there is no application or registration process to receive payments for the digital money transfer project.

CEO Shairana Ali said they are working with the government and other civil society partners who already have data on vulnerable households and that payments will only be made to households that respond to their selection criteria.

Ali made the comments because some people are acting falsely as project representatives, informing community members that they need to register with them to be eligible for using the digital money transfer project.

Ali says these people then charge a fee for this service.

She emphasizes that households do not need to give favors or pay anyone money to receive cash assistance or to increase the possibility of receiving assistance.

She adds that there are no representatives of Save the Children Fiji or other organizations that register people.

Ali says it is sad to know that there are individuals who take advantage of the current situation and cheat and try to take advantage of vulnerable families.

She says they have informed the relevant authorities that these perpetrators will be head-on by the law.

Save the Children Fiji’s digital money transfer project has so far helped 16,772 of existing beneficiaries, with the first round of payments being distributed on August 22.

The second tranche of payments planned for this group of beneficiaries will take place on September 24.

Ali says an additional 22,228 beneficiaries will be identified with payments scheduled between October and December.

The second installment of payments planned for 16,772 beneficiaries will begin on Friday.

Each household will receive $ 200 in cash assistance to meet their basic needs.
