Cash App launches ‘Paid in Bitcoin’ feature and adds Lightning transfers

Speaking to the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami on Thursday, Miles Suter, head of crypto products at Cash App, said the payment app adds three new bitcoin-focused features:

  1. A “paid in bitcoin” feature, described as an “easy way” to auto-invest paychecks in BTC. The feature will allow users to choose a percentage between 1 and 100 to automatically convert their salaries to BTC.
  2. A “bitcoin rounding” feature that will provide a way to automatically invest loose change from card transactions into BTC.
  3. A new “Lightning Receive” feature that will make Bitcoin Lightning Network transfers “seamless” by having a single QR code that contains addresses for Bitcoin on-chain and Lightning wallets.

“We believe bitcoin is the best digital sound currency in the world,” Suter said during the presentation, adding that this means Cash App sees its mission as getting bitcoin “into as many people’s hands as possible.” possible”.

“We want to stay true to the bitcoin ethos, which means allowing customers to withdraw bitcoins to their own wallets,” Suter added.
